| Andrew Naumenko aka jaildigger is evolving every second of his producing life. He looks for unique style but at the same time he changes it almost each other track. Mostly there are experiments with everything, fast rhythms, slow electronics, middle lives.. One thing is invariable - it's some kind of vagueness and melancholy in his stuff. In years 2005-2007 some tracks of jaildigger were rotated at several Russian internet radio stations. In February this year he released his first single "good looking breakfast" at www.foxxkitsune.net | Q & A with Jaildigger
Q: Where does your artist name come from? A: My artist name comes from deep youth and it’s the product of hard and detailed thought process..
Q: Tell us more about your musical roots! A: Here’s no some specific musical roots.. my father played on guitar in a band, also on piano when he was young.. and fortunately he listened to good music (Pink Floyd, the Beatles, Jon Bon Jovi, Deep Purple, Queen etc.) when I was young and susceptible.
Q: How did you start producing music? A: I don’t remember how the sound editing program fell into my hands.. it was about a ten years ago.. but I started from remixing the stuff of famous artists (quite banal start) and from twisting, chopping, distorting and mixing of tons of different sounds (birds’ singing to the accompaniment of drum’n’bass rhythms lol).
Q: Are you also a DJ? A: No. I tried before but it seemed to me quite boring.. Now I’m going to back to the decks lol..
Q: Do you work together with other artists also? E.g. Remixes? A: Yes. I work with others periodically. There are mostly remixes to artists from acidplanet.com and some Russian sites, I also arranged some songs to a few Russian artists.
Q: Do you have any special musical aims? A: Yes, it’s to be always unpredictable..
Q: What do you think of the contemporary popular music which is played by normal radio stations? A: tastes differ
Q: What have you read recently (book, play, film, etc.) that moved or surprised you? A: once they were “fight club”, “knockin’ on Heaven’s door”, “de fabuleux destin d’Amelie Poulain” etc., recently they were “hot fuzz” and “mirror mask”.. I don’t know.. I can’t remember something really recent that moved or surprised me..
Q: What is your all-time favorite track? Why? A: it’s impossible to point out just one track.. ok, here are few: Portishead – Roads (terrific sounding, fantastic voice of Beth, overall melancholic feeling); Breakbeat Era – Bullitproof (I don’t know why), U.N.K.L.E. feat. Thom Yorke – Rabbit in your headlights (both artists are the greatest talents), Deep Purple – April (the best their song I think), Death in Vegas – Hands around my throat (isn’t it?), Red Snapper – Keeping pigs together (or any other from they) etc. etc.
Q: What's one thing you're a fan of that people might not expect? A: I love to laugh, hehe )) |
